ICOMOS* International Day of Monuments & Sites 18 April
This year’s international theme is the heritage of agriculture. It is an important day because it raises public awareness of the diversity of the world’s heritage and the efforts that are required to protect it. The Trust and ICOMOS are partners in promoting events in Victoria.
A family picnic on 18 April at our historic farm property in the Yarra Valley, Gulf Station, will be complimented by activities arranged via Branches: Bendigo, Portland, Geelong and District, and Mornington Peninsula. With funding from Federal Government and Heritage Victoria, the Trust is working to secure long term conservation of Gulf Station. Entry will be a gold coin donation and there will be displays and activities including working horses. We will be making sure the place looks sounds and smells like a farm again! There will also be an opportunity to see progress on the restoration of the site, including the reconstruction of the recently saved and relocated Croydon House of c1870. This building will in future house our ticketing facilities, allowing the main house to be further opened up for interpretation.
Where: Gulf Station Farm
Time: 10-4pm
Entry fee: Gold coin donation
